Matthew Reiter co-heads Bär & Karrer’s litigation practice and specializes in litigation and arbitration.
He has extensive experience in a wide range of state court proceedings, including criminal investigations, enforcement proceedings and international judicial assistance as well as bankruptcy related proceedings and high-profile labor law disputes, but focuses on the resolution of large domestic and international commercial disputes. Recent engagements in his litigation practice include the successful representation of a corporate client in relation to a complex valuation dispute and the representation of a worldwide organization in relation to various parallel court proceedings concerning tort, damages and insurance claims.
Matthew Reiter has successfully represented clients in numerous domestic and international arbitrations, both in ad hoc and institutional proceedings, especially relating to joint ventures and shareholders' agreements, large work contracts, M&A transactions and supply agreements. Recent arbitration highlights include the successful defense of EnBW in a CHF 1 billion arbitration proceeding, the representation of a subsidiary of Huntsman Corp. in relation to a joint venture dispute and the representation of PNK Group in relation to a successful rescission of a large work contract.
Clients of Matthew Reiter include individuals as well as listed and non-listed domestic and foreign companies from various sectors such as the banking and services industry, the pharmaceutical, chemical, energy, automotive and construction industries as well as sports.
