Successful Assistance to Football Union of Russia in Hooliganism Case

Bär & Karrer has successfully assisted the Football Union of Russia in an arbitration before the Court of Arbitration for Sport against an appeal filed by the football club FC Zenit St. Petersburg in a hooliganism case.

The Football Union of Russia had sanctioned FC Zenit for fan misbehavior in relation to the match of 17 November 2012 between FC Dynamo Moscow and FC Zenit. The actions of the supporters of FC Zenit had led to a suspension of the match and to a 0:3 forfeit sanction against FC Zenit. In a partial award rendered a few days after the hearing in Lausanne, the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed the appeal of FC Zenit against the sanctions imposed by the Football Union of Russia and confirmed the 0:3 forfeit sanction against the club of St. Petersburg.

The Bär & Karrer team consisted of Philippe Fuchs and Jan Kleiner.
