Bär & Karrer Successfully Assisted the National Library of Israel in Proceedings to Obtain Long-Hidden Works of Franz Kafka Located in Swiss Safes

Bär & Karrer successfully represented the National Library of Israel Ltd. in recognition and enforcement proceedings at the District Court of Zurich concerning an Israeli court decision entitling the National Library of Israel to the contents of safes at a Swiss bank in Zurich containing a long-hidden trove of Max Brod's and Franz Kafka's papers and manuscripts. Bär & Karrer successfully advised the National Library of Israel in gaining access to the content of these safes, which ends years of lengthy legal battles surrounding the works.

Bär & Karrer acted as Swiss legal advisor to the National Library of Israel. The team was composed of Eric Stupp (Banking & Finance), Daniel Hochstrasser and Romana Brueggemann (both Litigation & Arbitration).
