Datenschutz bleibt gefordert
in: Datenschutz-Forum Schweiz (ed.), Persönlichkeitsschutz zwischen Mensch und Maschine, 25 Jahre Datenschutz-Forum Schweiz
The article highlights the growing challenges of data protection for children on social media and analyzes the legal framework and the responsibilities of platform operators. It shows how technological developments are creating new risks such as cyberbullying, sextortion, and the misuse of children's images. Particular attention is paid to the tension between parental autonomy and children's right to privacy, with a focus on the ability to give consent, the right to be forgotten, and the proportionality of data processing. Finally, practical protective measures, data protection obligations such as child-friendly privacy policies, and the importance of media literacy for effective child protection in the digital space are highlighted.
