Recent Appointments of Bär & Karrer International Arbitration Team Members to Arbitral Organisations
Several members of Bär & Karrer International Arbitration Team have recently been appointed to various arbitration institution and organisations in Switzerland and abroad.
On 1 January 2020, Alexandra Johnson, Partner, has been appointed as Secretary to the President of the Arbitration Court of the Swiss Chamber's Arbitration Institution (SCAI), which administers arbitrations under the Swiss Rules of International Arbitration.
Aside from her new function within the President’s Office, Alexandra Johnson remains a member of the Arbitration Court to which she has been appointed in June 2019 for a three-year term. The SCAI Arbitration Court is composed of 28 leading arbitration practitioners from Switzerland and abroad. Alexandra Johnson’s appointment is an important recognition of her expertise in international arbitration. She is also a member of the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA) Marketing Committee and a Co-Chair of the ASA Geneva Local Group.
Senior Associate Anya Marinkovich has been elected as member of the Global Advisory Board of the International Center for Dispute Resolution (ICDR)'s Young & International group (ICDR Y&I).
ICDR Y&I is a networking group for arbitration and other ADR practitioners under 40 that is sponsored by ICDR, the international division of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), and gives its members the chance to meet and exchange ideas with their peers all over the world, and to benefit from the experience of more senior practitioners in seminars and conferences.
Associate Nadia Smahi has been elected by the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA)'s Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG) as Regional Representative for Europe.
Established in 1997, YIAG aims to foster the understanding and use of international arbitration by providing opportunities to young international arbitration practitioners and students under 40 to exchange views on topical issues in the field. YIAG has over 10,000 members from more than 140 countries and is most renowned for its interactive Tylney Hall symposia.
