Markus Wang is a member of the management board of Bär & Karrer and heads the intellectual property department of the firm. His practice covers a wide range of contentious and non-contentious patent, trademark, copyright and other IP-related issues, in particular in the pharma, biotech and information technology sector. He also specializes in regulatory matters in the life sciences and health care field.
Markus Wang lectures intellectual property law at the University of Fribourg. He has written two books on design protection and contributed chapters to several books on other IP and IT topics and published several articles for periodicals in these fields.
He is recognised as a leading practitioner in the field of intellectual property in professional publications and listing such as Chambers Europe, European Legal Experts and PLC Which Lawyer. He is reported to earn widespread acclaim for his IP work (Chambers Europe 2010) and as giving "excellent, sustained support, and also understands that timing is of the essence in doing a deal" (Chambers Europe 2011).
