Bär & Karrer College

In cooperation with the renowned St. Gallen University (HSG) we run the Bär & Karrer College (BKC) where Bär & Karrer associates are given the opportunity to not only develop and enhance their knowledge of commercial law but also to acquire knowledge in business administration and economics as well as soft skills.

This integrated professional training enables our lawyers to best meet our clients' needs and to optimally implement their theoretical knowledge. Thanks to the BKC program, we are able to extend our leading position in the field of training, promotion and personal development of our lawyers.

BKC at a glance

Associates joining Bär & Karrer benefit from the training and professional development program Bär & Karrer College (BKC) which covers the fields commercial law, business and economics, management and soft skills.

The BKC program consists of 46 days at regular intervals throughout 4 to 4.5 years. Associates who do not hold a degree of an Anglo-saxon university (e.g. LL.M.) and have not gathered similar experience abroad have to invest an additional year, approximately, to acquire such degree.

The credit points earned at the BKC will be fully taken into account when applying for an (Executive) MBA: The certificate awarded after 2 to 2.5 years and 15 credit points as well as the diploma awarded after 4 to 4.5 years and 30 credit points correspond to one quarter respectively half of the way to an Executive MBA.

The credit points earned during the BKC program will be awarded by the St. Gallen University. However, pursuant to the Bologna system, they may also be transferred to other universities for the acquisition of an Executive MBA.

Partners of Bär & Karrer will be responsible for the legal part of the BKC program while the other topic areas will be covered by professors of the St. Gallen University and selected specialists.

The BKC program is organized as a modular system. The legal training and professional development modules require 1/4 to 1 1/2 day, the non-legal modules require 1 to 5 days. All modules may be completed flexibly.

Classes will be held in German or English.
Bär & Karrer will release associates from work for BKC classes held on working days. Besides, associates will need to invest an additional 2 - 3 Saturdays per year for their professional development.
